Digital Trust Test Bench

Active and Completed Projects

Digital Trust Test Bench (DTT) is a quality assurance tool for digital credential solutions, allowing governments and organizations to put digital credentials to the test to make sure they work with other platforms.

Consider all the technical back-end work governments and organizations across Canada will have to do to ensure the credentials they issue will work (interoperate), not just across the country, but also around the world.

Imagine if there was a simple way to do the necessary testing and validation, where the issuers,

holders, and verifiers of digital credentials could all collaborate on interoperability. This is the goal of DTT. It’s designed to become a one-stop-shop to ensure seamless integration so we don’t end up with a patchwork of digital credentials across the country.

DTT is a cloud-based quality assurance platform that enables interoperability testing among technology components and solutions within the digital trust ecosystem. The vision of Digital Trust Test Bench is to be an all-in-one platform for digital trust ecosystem participants to achieve and maintain interoperability through early and continuous testing, regardless of their role, process, or technology. Being “all-in-one” refers to it being extensive in:

  1. its coverage of technology i.e. at different layers or from different stacks;
  2. its support for the types of testing i.e. verification, validation, conformity, or interoperability; and also
  3. its value for users i.e. a product’s tester, developer, its extended product team, or stakeholders.

IDLab is committed to spearheading interoperability efforts in the digital credential community. IDLab’s role is focused on owning and refining the vision of the Digital Trust Test Bench, and bringing together like-minded collaborators from the community to realize that vision.

Through co-creation projects, IDLab assembles relevant collaborators, funders, and end users to design, implement, and roll out new iterations of the Digital Trust Test Bench. IDLab has a small and mighty product team that serves as the core working team, augmented by its collaborators. Each project is end-to-end in nature, meaning that the targeted users of DTT will directly benefit from the intended desired outcomes when the iteration is delivered.
